Role Profile

ZSL has an exciting opportunity for a HR Administrator to provide administrative assistance to the London Zoo and Central functions HR team based in London Zoo and ensure all changes that affect payroll are completed in a timely fashion.  The successful candidate will support the Senior HR Business Partner and HR Advisor to ensure the smooth running of the team.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Admin tasks including minute taking, writing letters, data management and other ad-hoc duties 
  • Writing and issuing employment contracts, contract extensions and amendment letters for employees
  • Inputs new starter details and other personal detail changes onto the HR & Payroll database system.
  • Issues and chases employment reference requests.
  • Processes employee right to work checks & DBS checks.
  • Ensure the monthly payroll spreadsheets are updated, and changes are processed in a timely manner.
  • Monitors the Science and C&P HR team and HR admin email inbox and replies to general/recruitment enquiries 
  • Supports with benefit processes such as childcare vouchers, gym membership, season ticket loan and cycle to work scheme.
  • Assists with organising and delivering staff events, e.g. Long Service Awards, Staff Christmas Party, etc.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Previous experience as a HR Administrator
  • Solid administration experience is essential
  • Experience in an HR or data sensitive environment is desirable

Skills & Abilities

  •  Excellent numerical, written, communication and computer skills are required.
  •  Proven skills in using MS office packages, specifically Excel.
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
